Patterns become easier to recognize when viewed as systems.

Purpose

The Bad Status explores the conditions and patterns that shape how individuals, teams, and leadership groups operate across modern workplaces. Using a systems perspective, attention is given to the relationships between personal and business incentives, delivery models, management approaches, and how company dynamics and culture interact to influence behavior and ultimately shape outcomes.

The aim is to surface patterns and create space for deeper understanding of how some organizations function beyond formal structures and visible processes. The Bad Status exists to make those patterns easier to recognize, learn from, and approach with greater clarity and intention.

Patterns become easier to recognize when viewed as systems.

About the Author

I’m Lanre Nunyala, a Senior Technical Program Management Leader with more than fifteen years of experience leading software and digital initiatives across engineering, product, UX, and operations. I hold an M.S. in Management of Technology along with multiple project management certifications, including the PMP, CSM, CSPO, and PSM.

But what has shaped my perspective most is the way I approach problems. I naturally think in systems, looking beyond individual events to understand the incentives, structures, and decisions that consistently produce the same organizational behaviors. Rather than asking who caused a problem, I’m more interested in understanding why the system allowed it to happen, and why similar patterns continue to emerge across different companies, industries, and teams.
